About Me

<>Here are some of the dogs I've helped through rescue and training.  There have been many more, so many that I didn't even get pictures of them all!  They have been rescued, spayed/neutered, nursed back to health, and adopted into geat homes.  It all started with me stopping to talk at a booth at the Del Mar Fair in California in 1994.  I can't save them all, but I can make a big difference to one-at-a-time!

This little boy is Kipper.  I fostered him for almost 3 months, nursed him back to health, and now he has been adopted and is living it up with his new family!  He was very very sick but he is fine now!

This little girl is Chamois.  She was a cute little Cocker that some very caring folks rescued and brought to me.  She didn't even know what toys were for, but now she plays with balls, and chews on bones.  She is a cuddle-bug and is so tiny, she can sit on your lap and hug you so good!  She's a keeper and maybe a prospective Therapy Dog too!

This is my new girl, Jetta.  I adopted her on her last day at the Murfreesboro PAWS shelter.  She had kennel cough, and was about to be put down.  I just couldn't let such a good little dog go down because she had a cold!  She looks like part Golden (really curly hair) and maybe part Lab.  She's very smart, and I hope to make her a Therapy Dog.

This is Durango. He was donated at 13 months of age to the guide dog program, and is now an Animal Assisted Therapy dog through Delta Society Pet Partners. Durango loves to be petted and loved on, so he does very well as a therapy dog. When I raise puppies, Durango shows all the little guys what to do and how to do it. He's such a good boy! Durango lives with me and is my special boy. Look at the smile on his face!  Durango passed over the Rainbow Bridge 01-11-08.  I miss him terribly!

This is Dallas.  Isn't he a great looking GSD?  He was heartworm positive, so we had to go through that treatment and expense.  He was adopted by one of my students in Pre-Algebra.  He is now a great companion to hiim.

This good looking Anatolian Shepherd is Jackson.  He only had a few days of training, and is now living with my cousin in Alabama.  He is such a calm boy, and is a great companion for her.

This is Shiloh, rescued from Rutherford County PAWS in December 2004. She will be placed into Great Dog Rescue, but for now she is my Christmas puppy! Shiloh is a little shepherd mix that had a bad experience with a larger, aggressive dog while at the shelter. She is recovering here and being cute.

This is Kelsey girl, rescued from Rutherford County PAWS. She is a little Wolfhound, so she will be a big girl. She was placed into Great Dog Rescue, and has been adopted by a loving home in Sandwich, Mass. November 2004.

This is my Lucky boy. His family couldn't keep him anymore, so they brought him to me to rehome. He was put into Great Dog Rescue and is currently in his foster home awaiting adoption. He is truly a GREAT dog! Update! Lucky was adopted by a very active couple in New Hampshire. What a Lucky boy!

This is little Buddy. He was a stray that a neighbor brought to me to rehome. He was put into Great Dog Rescue and was immediately adopted and has a stay at home Mom. He is a real sweetie pie. Update! Received this Christmas picture of Colby, aka Buddy.

This is Precious.  She was an abuse case, with an embedded collar that almost killed her. She is a Border Collie mix, with a monkey tail! She spent the first 3 months of her life chained up outside with a collar slowly choking her almost to death, then the next 3 months in a kennel at the shelter, healing and awaiting the case coming before the court. Now, she is living with me, trying to learn to live with people who care about her, so she can be a facility dog at a local nursing home. She's had a tough life, and has a long way to go, but I'm not giving up on her! The nursing home decided they did not want Precious after all, so she was placed with Great Dog Rescue. Update! Precious (now Bala) was adopted by a Harvard professor and his wife!

This is Sprite.  She has climbed up onto the chair, and is looking out the window so she can watch me walking across the yard. Sprite is a Pit that I helped ready for adoption during Level II Intern Academy at Pat Miller's Peaceable Paws in Hagerstown, MD. Sprite was so sweet, climbing into my lap and nuzzling my ear, giving me wet willies! Sprite knows the following cues reliably; SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME, TOUCH, GO TO YOUR PLACE, and POSSUM. It was a joy to work with her, and I sure hope she is adopted soon! Update 6/30/04! Sprite was adopted!

This is Jobey.  He is a Pit mix that I helped ready for adoption during Level I Intern Academy at Pat Miller's Peaceable Paws (5 days of training for Jobey). He did an excellent job, helping me to graduate with 90%. Jobey knows the following cues reliably; SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME, TOUCH, he can walk on loose lead, Spin/Twirl, and Wave. He is such a sweet boy, and I hope he is adopted soon! Update 9/10/03! Jobey was adopted into a home where he lives indoors and runs and plays with his Pit siblings.

This is Orlee.  She is a Canine Companions pup that has been released from the program. She has so much energy, and she can't control it when distracted, and she is easily distracted! She's a real sweetie-pie. She came to me at 1 year old, a little bit wired already. She will be going to my good friend, Barbara.

This is McClure.  I know he looks very guilty, but no, he didn't do something bad. He was just sleepy when I took this picture (left).  He was our Christmas Reindog (middle).  McClure's baby picture (right). McClure was released from the CCI program, and is now being what he was born to be;  a great pet. He is being totally spoiled rotten by his new Mom, Bev.

This is Lloyd, my little lover boy.  He is a lab/golden cross, male, and he started his advanced training 12 August 2000.  It was tough saying goodbye to him, because he is a real sweetie pie.  Yes, he's in the shower (left).  Lloyd GRADUATED 10 Feb 2001.  He is a working service dog for a wheel chair bound high schooler, named Jonathan.  Lloyd and me at graduation (right).

Eureka
This is my boy, Eureka!  He's a lab/golden cross.  His body shape is much like a golden and his coat is shiny, long, and wavy, but jet black!  He is very calm like a golden, but eager to please like a lab.  He's a real sweetie.   Eureka GRADUATED 17 Mar 2001 and went to Rosemary, a beautiful young lady who lives in Oceanside. Their relationship is so special. I love Rosemary and her family and how much they love Eureka. They keep me updated on his life by sending video and photos often. Rosie's first kiss (right).

Daniel     This is my boy, Daniel.  He's so sweet! He looks just like a little polar bear when he stretches out to sleep. He GRADUATED5 June 1999 and is a working guide, who works for a young man named James.  What a good boy Daniel is.  He likes to sit up when he shakes hands! He is truly a success story, as Daniel was about to be disqualified when he came to me, through no fault of his. He just needed some consistency and timeliness in his training.

Tyler This is Tyler . He's also a donated dog that came to me at about a year old. He is very mellow, he GRADUATED 5 June 1999 and is now a working guide for a nice lady in Minnesota.

Drummer This is Drummer. He was so worried about everything; see his wrinkles? He was afraid to go out in public, so I had to disqualify him early in the puppy raising process. He lives with an elderly lady in Palm Springs now, and is her good boy and he loves it.

Lexihuundermutt This good boy is Lexi. He's a great dog who just didn't understand his role as a guide dog.  He could not get things right when he had to "intelligently disobey", which is the very special and unique thing that a guide dog must do when it isn't safe to do the command that the owner has issued. He now lives with a young friend of mine, Nicole, who loves and takes care of him in San Diego, CA.

Samson Here's Samson. He's a wonderful dog, who loves everyone, and will take off with you at the drop of a hat.  He GRADUATED25 April 1998 , but he's recently been retired and is living with a friend of mine in Escondido, CA.  Samson passed over the Rainbow Bridge in 2007.

Murphy This is Murphy, my first guide dog puppy that I raised. He GRADUATED 25 October 1997and is now a working guide living in El Cajon, CA. He's such a good boy! I hear from his owner, Steve, often and Murphy is still doing a great job for him. This is the one that all others are compared to!
